Meet Your Advisory Council

Our Mission

Athletic Field Advisory Council exists to promote and support programs at Athletic Field Park and its community through building partnerships, activities, advocacy, and fundraising efforts.

Strong Parks and Community Begin With a Park Advisory Council (PAC)

We are a group of volunteers who meet on a regular basis to support the effective functioning of our local park. Our council promote ways for the community to better utilize the Chicago Park District's programs and facilities; provide communication to the Chicago Park District on matters relating to our park; increase community awareness of Chicago Park District projects; provide the community with a vehicle through which park information can be shared; and assist in locating alternate funding sources to enhance park facilities. In an effort to do these things, our council hosts events and other related activities throughout the year to fund raise and improve our community.

The Chicago Park District seeks advisement from councils regarding services provided to parks, needs, problems, accomplishments, and any other matters councils consider important to the operation of their parks.

Athletic Field Park Advisory Council (AFAC)

Park Advisory Councils represent more than 225 parks in all 77 community areas across the City of Chicago.

AFAC is the community voice for our neighborhood park, Athletic Field Park, and the surrounding community partners. AFAC helps make a difference in our park and neighborhood by seeking community partners, creating accessible programming, fundraising, hosting special events, sponsoring programs and advocating for improved services in the park and around our neighborhood.
